Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times Post Festival Retreat
Guided Retreat
@ Buddha Land KMC, Keighley
Saturday 15 August & Sunday 16 August, 9.30am – 4pm
In-person & Livestream
Step back from your normal activities and focus on solving your problems through meditation with the inspiring and beautiful verses of ‘Advice from Atisha’s Heart.’
Following the teachings at the Kadampa International Summer Festival Gen Päljin will guide a short meditation retreat based on Advice from Atisha’s Heart.
This advice is the perfect method for training in keeping a balanced & peaceful mind when faced with the challenging situations of our modern lives. One thousand years ago, the great Indian Buddhist Master Atisha was instrumental in reviving pure Buddhism in Tibet. When he was about to return to India, he gave one final teaching, very special advice, which is just as relevant today as it was in Atisha’s time.
This ancient wisdom practice, known as Advice from Atisha’s Heart, encapsulates the way of life of the early Kadampa Buddhist Masters, famous for the purity and sincerity of their spiritual practice.
In this course, we will take time to listen to, contemplate and meditate on his advice so that we too can draw upon it in or daily lives to help reduce our unpeaceful minds and apply practical solutions to our human problems. This will benefit not only ourselves but also those with whom we share our lives.
This course is suitable for those new to Buddhist meditation and for those wishing to deepen their experience and understanding.
Two days of retreat that can be attended together or individually. Each day includes three guided sessions to improve our experience and mindfulness of meditations that lead to lasting peace of mind. £18 per day or £28 for both (Monthly Members £6 per day).
Teacher
The sessions will be guided by Gen Kelsang Päljin, Resident Teacher of Buddha Land and Burnley Kadampa Buddhist Centres, who is appreciated for offering clear guidance on meditation and living an exemplary, positive life.
