Meditation Classes in Burnley

Drop-in Buddhist Meditation Classes

These weekly meditation classes provide the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy peace of mind which helps us to  deal with the stresses of daily life. Each class is a stand-alone session, so you can gain benefit from both occasional and regular attendance.

The classes include guided meditations, a talk explaining how to practice and apply meditation, and a group discussion.

Our teacher is Gen Kelsang Päljin who is based at the Buddha Land Centre in Keighley. He is a Buddhist monk with many years experience in Kadampa Buddhism and he shows us simply and clearly how Buddhist teachings are relevant in today’s busy world, helping us use meditation in our day-to-day lives.

The teaching is based in the Kadampa Buddhist tradition, but they are very practical and do not require any religious belief to be helpful to us all. Everyone, whatever your background or experience, is welcome to come along to them.

These classes are held weekly at Burnley Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Brunside Mill, Parker Street, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 1AR

Children's Classes

Children’s Meditation Classes – £2.50 per class

11am – 12noon

 Nov 3, Dec 1

These classes for children teach how to gain an experience of inner peace though meditation. They are a great way to learn how difficulties come from the mind and to start to overcome them. Through meditation we can learn to relax, let go of our daily concerns and develop a fresh and positive outlook regardless of our age. Buddha’s teachings help us to understand the experiences of others, to overcome selfishness and to cherish others.

These classes are aimed specifically for young people. The usual classes are suitable for anyone over about 14 but these classes will be aimed at younger children. There will a short talk, guided meditations and activities such as drawing.

Everyone under 13 and over 5 is welcome but an adult needs to come along as well. The class lasts one hour with a charge of £2.50 per child. If you would like more information about these classes, if you would like to check about the suitability of them or have any other queries please send us an email or give us a call.
