Patience and Acceptance
In Person @ Burnley KBC & Livestream
Saturday 15 May, 10am – 1pm
(available for 48 hours after on catch up)
In this workshop we will explore Buddhist teachings and meditations, which are practical methods for practising patient acceptance. Through improving our wisdom we can effectively work to change things for the better from a place of peace rather than from annoyance or anger. By using these methods in our daily life we will develop an inner peace that cannot be disturbed by changing conditions.
Patience is a mind that is able to accept, fully and happily, whatever occurs. It is much more than just gritting our teeth and putting up with things. Being patient means to welcome wholeheartedly whatever arises, having given up the idea that things should be other than what they are. It is always possible to be patient; there is no situation so bad that it cannot be accepted patiently, with an open, accommodating, and peaceful heart. – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Patient acceptance is an inner strength that enables us to accept and grow from whatever life throws at us. Without cultivating patient acceptance we remain vulnerable to anxiety and frustration, and it is difficult for us to maintain peaceful relationships with others. If on the other hand we understand what true patience is and its extraordinary power and value, we will be confident to practise patience in daily life.
Meditation Workshops are an ideal way to learn more about meditation and inner peace. They are designed for those who are new to meditation but also for those who would like to improve and deepen their understanding.
The cost is £15 (£5 for Monthly Members and free for FP members).
Due to Coronavirus restrictions our our World Peace Café will be closed during the course but takeaway drinks are available in the town centre.
This morning workshop will be taught by Gen Kelsang Päljin, the Resident Teacher of Burnley Kadampa Buddhist Centre and of Buddha Land Buddhist Centre, Keighley. He is a Buddhist monk with over 20 years’ experience of practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhism.
