Buddhist Centres and Temples engage in regular chanted meditations, or puja’s. These are open to everyone and are free to attend although donations are welcome. They are held regularly at Burnley Kadampa Buddhist Centre and also at Buddha Land Centre in Keighley.
They sometimes feature beautiful offerings of food, flowers, and candles, and you are welcome to join in or just to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
The ‘Heart Jewel’ puja is recited each week in Burnley on Mondays and Saturdays from 5.30pm – 6.30pm and Wednesdays from 1pm – 2pm. This practice helps us to purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. In this way, we will naturally accomplish improve our realizations of the spiritual path, and in particular to attain a very special Dharma wisdom. Times do vary and Puna may not run during certain holidays and special days please check our online calendar.
We are looking to extend our chanted prayers to include additional days and if anyone is interested in supporting this by helping to set up offerings and/or carry out the chanted prayers please call and have a chat with us about this.
‘Offering to the Spiritual Guide’ is recited on the 10th and 25th of the month at Buddha Land in Keighley. This is the supreme gateway to receiving blessings for all practitioners.
‘Liberation from Sorrow’ features praises and requests to Tara. She protects us from all internal and external dangers, provides us with all the necessary conditions for our spiritual training, and guides us and inspires us with her blessings as we progress along the spiritual path.
‘Powa’ practice or transference of conciousness puja is held regularly for those who have died recently. If you would like to request a powa for someone who has died please contact us.
